Activist Gets Manhandled

Rand Paul has been all over the news lately and not in a good way. After being accused of hating Christians and pulling stunts in college, Paul is back on top of the news feeds; this time because of having to fire a volunteer.
Tim Profitt was Paul's Bourbon County campaign coordinator, but he will be know now as the volunteer who stomped on an opposing activist's head.
Profitt and at least one other male roughly handled women MoveOn.org activist Lauren Vale. The men wrestled the women to the ground and pinned her head to the sidewalk with Profitt's foot.
Lauren Valle was attempting to pull a small political act. She had dressed up in an employee's costume, complete with wig, to try to hand Paul a "employee of the month" award from the bogus group RepubliCorp. The stunt was part of the MoveOn.org group to highlight ties between corporate money and the GOP.
Her main goal she said was just for Paul to see her sign.
The men say they did it for Paul's safety. "The way she went after him it looked like something bad was getting ready to happen," Profitt said.
Lauren Valle thought differently. For CBSnews she said that things unfolded as follows and make her think the attack was premeditated:
  • Before Rand Paul was even near the men had spotted her and started to circle behind her.
  • When Paul's car pulled close they stepped in front of her, in an attempt to block her.
  • She stepped off the curb and around the car, to get around them.
  • They followed her and abused her.
She had been in town for the past few weeks, and she felt that the men knew she would be there. Profitt said nothing would have happened if the police would have gotten involved. Profitt said to the Washington Post,
"A friend of mine went up to three policeman before Rand got there, and told them about the girl who was standing there with that wig on and that she was getting ready to do something. The policemen looked at him and said that's not our job."
That statement partially contradicts what he had said earlier about only acting after he saw Valle go toward Paul. This statement coincides with Valle's theory that this was a premeditated act.
Profitt also apologized, but not to Valle, " "I'm sorry that it came to that, and I apologize if it appeared overly forceful, but I was concerned about Rand's safety."
Rand Paul's campaign issued a statement about the incident, not naming Profitt in it.
"Whatever the perceived provocation, any level of aggression or violence is deplorable and will not be tolerated by our campaign," the campaign's statement said.
Profitt was fired by the campaign and will be facing fourth degree assault charges for this incident.
Valle has recovered from the bruises on her shoulder and the slight concussion she received.

Crocodile on a Plane

In the Democratic Republic of Congo a passenger of a routine flight from the nations capitol to a regional airport sneaked a baby crocodile on to the plane. During the flight the croc was stowed under the passengers seat in a gym bag.  Allegedly the man was planning on selling the animal after he landed. The tragedy is that only one man survived the events that unfolded.
Croc
The innocent crocodile bit through the gym bag and caused a stampede on the small aircraft. All the passengers ran to one side of the plane and caused the plane to spin and crash into a house.
One man survived the crash. He told this tale to the investigators.
The lone survivor wasn't the only thing that was alive after the crash, it was reported that the crocodile was found alive in the wreckage. The locals took care of the baby crocodile by killing him with a machete.

Police brutality is becoming an ongoing issue as videos and pictures surface from cop car cameras.

In Dallas a state trooper faces charges after slamming a women into a concrete wall that divides traffic.
The horrific images were captured on a Dallas Tollway by Trooper Arturo Perez’s dashboard camera as he tried to arrest the female motorist on suspicion of drink-driving.
The grainy pictures clearly show the officer dragging 22-year-old Whitney Fox towards his police car then body-slamming her into a highway’s concrete dividing wall when she tried to pull away from him.

Perez, 43, who became a trooper three years ago after 16 years working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, resigned from the Dallas Department of Safety before he could be fired.
Over the past year I've seen numerous blogs that post about police brutality to try and spread the word that sometimes cops aren't always the angels they are imagined as.
It was the victim who called the cops there, after she crashed her car into the wall.
Mr Isenberg (her lawyer) said she was driving home from a party sober when a drunken friend in the passenger seat grabbed the wheel and forced the car to veer off the road.
The women need to go to the hospital for cuts on her chin and knees. She wasn't charged with anything. The officer will be facing misdemeanor assault charges, but if convicted will not serve jail time.
